Scouting Video: Drew Vettleson, Central Kitsap (WA) HS (2010 Draft)

In our scouting report on Drew Vettleson, I likened him to Andre Ethier from the left side. Many of the qualities I liked are evident in this video. First, there’s no such thing as a multi-dimensional offensive player who isn’t very balanced and coordinated. This is one aspect that really struck me about this player. Hand-eye coordination and body coordination are key components to a solid foundation. Mix in some physical projection to an effortless swing and you have one of the more complete high school outfielders in this draft class.

Scouting Report: Drew Vettleson, OF, Central Kitsap (WA) HS (2010 Draft)

Drew Vettleson has committed to play college baseball for Oregon State, where I’m sure he’s heard plenty of Jacoby Ellsbury comparisons.

I had another former Pac-10 player in mind when I scouted him. As the top junior in Washington in 2009 and a two-way player who moonlighted in basketball, my future impressions of Vettleson are purely as an offensive player. We’ll have video of him in the future. In the meantime, here’s what the scouting report says.
