Shawon Dunston Jr. is seen here from the closed side during his AC BP round, followed by a game AB, a few dry swings and a look at infield. The first thing you’d notice is that he is still growing into his body and strength, which tended to play havoc with his balance as he was driving through the ball. He looks like a guy who is still feeling his swing out from the left side and tended to try to pull more than his body is ready for. He was at his best when going with the straight away approach and letting his hands work for him, to best bring his speed into play. As you will note, he has lean and lanky athletic actions in center field. He’s got a very active lower half and tends to play on the balls of his feet, which is what you want. His arm will be about a 4 in CF which is just fine for the kind of player he profiles as.
