Scouting Video: DeAndre Smelter, RHP, Tattnall Square (GA) Academy (2010 Draft)
By The Baseball Beginnings Guy
March 31, 2010
In my earlier scouting report on DeAndre Smelter, I identified his “money pitch” as a “power-sinker type” that was hard and I thought had room for more power in the future. Come to learn that it’s a splitter. I love this guy and he’s a first-rounder all the way for me. Smelter is a way above-average athlete, a multi-sport guy whose balance and coordination should keep him healthy for years to come. He’s got the overall assortment of power stuff that should make him a workhorse guy in the future.
My only regret is that Beginnings doesn’t yet have the budget for me to go check on him this spring. Ah, there’s always pro ball.
