(Wilmington Blue Rocks)
Daniel Duffy
Bats: L, Throws: L
6-3, 205
2009 Opening Day Age: 20 (B: 12/21/88)
Drafted: Royals 3rd Round 2007 (Cabrillo HS, Lompoc, CA)
2009 Club at time of report: Wilington (High A)
Games seen: 1, innings: 1 (Cal-Carolina League All-Star Game)
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Long legs and arms, high athletic frame gives impression that he is taller than he is. Loose and whippy athletic body and has yet to reach physical maturity.
STRENGTHS: FB topped at 96 with control and command, pitched at 91-92 with easy arm action and plus delivery points; FB with glove side run. Creates great downhill action, FB has life, both legitimate weapons as he advances. Pounds lower half of zone. SL at 88 is primary breaking ball.
WEAKNESSES: CB at 71 needs to be harder, needed tighter rotation in this look; looks like he has it but couldn’t find it so he pitched with fastball in this inning.
SUMMARY: Really liked this prospect as solid No. 2 MLB starter. Believe he has yet to reach full potential. Would like to see CB better next time; if he can show three above-average pitches from LH side, this is a No. 1 MLB starter.
Overall Future Potential: 55

Is this a scouting report from watching him pitch one inning in the futures game on TV?
All of these reports were compiled in-person at the California-Carolina League All-Star game in Lake Elsinore.
